Dr. Mey is an Assistant Professor at Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is a Registered Dietitian. He uses clinical-translational research approaches to understand the link between diet and health. He was trained on a National Institutes of Health, National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health T32 grant (from 2018-2021) to investigate the role of whole-grain intake and whole-grain botanical components on human protein metabolism. His other research interests include 1) understanding the role of ketone body metabolism in metabolic and respiratory health and 2) identifying novel biomarkers of malnutrition. Dr. Mey has received several awards for his early-career research, including the ASPEN Promising Investigator Award (2021) and the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group’s Excellence in Emerging Research Award (2021). Beyond his scientific interests, he is particularly passionate about elevating the dietetic profession and encouraging dietitians to engage in research.
