Senior Lecturer in Nutrition
De Montfort University, United Kingdom
I am a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and the Deputy Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Nutrition at De Montfort University. I am also a Registered Nutritionist (with specialism in Nutrition Science) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.
My research interests lie in the areas of phytochemicals and cardiovascular health, dietary prevention and management of cardiometabolic diseases and malnutrition prevention and intervention in children and older adult populations. My current research looks at developing personalised dietary solutions for diabetes management, and also finding dietary management means for lipoedema as a fat metabolic disorder condition which predominantly occur in women globally. Functional food product development falls in another area of my expertise based on the past industrial work experiences and international collaborations in both UK and overseas.
I have published around 20 journal and conference papers and textbook chapters and completed funded projects with national and international collaborators as the Principal Investigator. Most recently, I was selected to represent the University at EXPO2020 in January 2022 and successfully delivered talks and carried out engagements in relation to the Global Challenges on ‘Nutrition, Food Security, and Health Inequalities'. I am currently acting as the Associate Editor for an internationally recognised journal in nutrition and undertaking external PhD VIVA examinership role.
