Amanda Schoonover, MPH is finishing her second year of medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She is the founder and student lead for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Student Research Group at the college, where she participates in research, pairs other students with research opportunities and physician mentors, and organizes research workshops. She has worked in pediatric emergency medicine research for the past 4 years and has grown to love the field from a new perspective as a medical student. A Michigan native, Amanda received her Masters in Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where she focused her research on the health of displaced women and children fleeing violence. Amanda hopes to become an emergency medicine physician and pursue a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship. She is grateful for the opportunity to present at SAEM and is grateful for the mentorship and guidance she has received along the way.
