Dr. Schrading is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is the Director of the Office of Wilderness Medicine and directs the Wilderness Medicine Track in the UAB EM residency training program and wilderness medicine special topics courses for UAB medical students. He has extensive experience teaching AWLS and other wilderness medicine programs. He serves as faculty at both WMS student and resident electives in Roanoke and Breckenridge. He also mentors students and residents in EM and wild med research projects. He has authored numerous papers in the literature and has a particular interest in the training and teaching aspects of Wilderness Medicine. He was a white-water raft guide on the Youghiogheny River in southwestern Pennsylvania for seven years and is an expert in white-water rescue and safety.
