Lucas Glisson, B.S., is an MS3 student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. His interest in wilderness medicine lead him to pursue a summer research project investigating the effectiveness of medical devices for potential use in austere environments. His research focuses on how two commercially available handheld devices which when paired through smartphones produce a rhythm strip and how this reading compares to that of standard 12-lead electrocardiograms. He hopes to pursue a career involved in emergency medicine and is very interested in psychiatry, oncology, and global medicine as well.
