Practicing emergency medicine at Cleveland Clinic, a tertiary referral medical center in Cleveland, Ohio has allowed me to explore my academic interests specifically safety, quality, value, and healthcare policy as they relate to emergency medicine. My interest in quality and patient safety has lead me to help develop measures of quality of Emergency Department(ED) patient care gaining valuable experience in formulating national emergency department performance measures, especially surrounding emergency airway management and ED lab waste. Through this work we built an emergency airway registry to help track patients who require emergency airway management as well as developed an NQF measure on ED lab sample hemolysis.
