Dr. Catherine S. Wolff, PhD is a postdoctoral research fellow in occupational injury at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). She completed her PhD in injury epidemiology at UNC in 2021, focusing her dissertation research on firearm-related injury. Catherine is also a medical student at Duke University and plans to apply for emergency medicine residency in Fall 2022. Catherine’s research interests include social emergency medicine, violence, access and outcome disparities, and systems of emergency care. She received her masters degree in health policy research from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012, where she worked for 5 years as a research project manager; her undergraduate degree from Penn was in public health. She has multiple years of experience as an EMT in the Philadelphia region, formerly serving as a lieutenant overseeing EMS at a suburban firehouse. She also has several years experience as a court advocate in Durham county assisting people seeking domestic violence protective orders as a volunteer with her county’s domestic violence and sexual assault agency.
