Dr. Linda Papa is an Emergency Physician and Director of Academic Clinical Research for the Orlando Regional Medical Center. She is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Central Florida, an Associated Professor of Medicine at Florida State University, an Adjunct Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University. Dr. Papa holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Community Medicine and has worked closely with trauma agencies to improve outcomes in patients with trauma and traumatic brain injury. For almost two decades, Dr. Papa’s research has focused on improving the evaluation of traumatic brain injury and concussion in the emergency department. Dr. Papa is the recipient of several National Institutes of Health funded grants to validate a blood test for traumatic brain injury and concussion. Results from her research show that a blood test taken within hours of injury indicates severity of brain injury in both children and adults. She has published over 300 original peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and abstracts and is the recipient of various awards, including America’s Top Emergency Physician and Patient’s Choice Award. Dr. Papa serves a reviewer for several federal funding agencies including the National Institutes of Health, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the Department of Defense.
