This topic focuses on improving the impoundment capabilities of wattles by increasing the density of the material filling or changing the encasement material. A polypropylene, polyester and polypropylene mix, and cotton woven fabrics were used to replace traditional plastic nettings and were evaluated by measuring the hydraulic performance of the wattles. Participants will learn how increasing the quantity of material and what encasement materials make the most difference in impounding runoff.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the characteristics of hydraulic performance evaluations on wattles.
Understand impoundment capabilities of various wattle encasements.
Compare different densities of materials within wattles by their impoundment capabilities.
