Endodontics has been hugely impacted by its embrace of CBCT technology as most endodontists have integrated it into their practices. While CBCTs pose a unique clinical challenge in their interpretation, managing a CBCT's information is an overlooked but no less critical aspect of this technology. What is the difference between a viewer and a DICOM? How can people send these files securely from one office to another? What is the appropriate diagnostic terminology and what is the appearance of critical pathologies such as malignancies? What are best practices to keep all involved practitioners in the loop? This presentation will examine these information management gaps, introduce strategies to harness the effectiveness of CBCTs, decode specific terms and diagnostic strategies used by radiologists, and explore circumstances when the endodontist may need to assume a facilitator’s role in order to attain optimal results.
