SP-1 - Revascularization and Regeneration: Current Status – Current Practices

The provision of contemporary endodontic procedures requires the integration of good science and exacting techniques. This approach focuses on tooth restoration and retention in pain-free function that will enhance the patient’s quality of life. While contemporary root canal procedures are highly successful, it would be ideal to replace irreversibly inflamed or necrotic pulp tissue with new, healthy, and vital pulp tissue. Therefore, biologically-based therapies are essential to solve these kinds of clinical issues and to support future developments through the provision of regenerative procedures. The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) defines regenerative endodontics as "bio-based procedures designed to replace damaged structures, including dentin and root structures, as well as cells of the dentin-pulp complex." Within the perspectives of this concept, this lecture aims to highlight ground-breaking studies and meta-analyses regarding this theme, in addition to current, visionary research within this realm.
