At the tomb of the unknown endodontist, there is a plaque that reads, “The endo is not done until the tooth is restored.” Dr. Schwartz will discuss the unique challenges of restoring endodontically treated teeth and possible roles for the endodontist. He will describe how the endodontics affects the restorative outcome, how the restorative treatment affects the endodontic outcome. He will discuss some of the problems endodontic treatment creates for adhesive dentistry and how to overcome them, and some of the research about how and when to consider placing posts. He will describe some of the "value added" procedures he performs in his practice. Dr. Schwartz is an endodontist who provides initial restorative treatment for nearly 100% of the teeth he treats, and will discuss the materials and techniques he uses and some of the research that supports his approach.
