Surgical endodontics refers to the branch of dentistry concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of lesions of endodontic origin that do not respond to conventional endodontic therapy or that cannot be treated by conventional endodontic therapy. At the beginning of the ‘90s a new era of endodontic microsurgery began. Several major developments were introduced in microsurgical endodontics: the surgical operating microscope, micro-instruments, ultrasonic root-end preparation, biocompatible root-end filling materials, use of the CBCT, Guided Bone Regeneration, and Biostimulation. The concurrent development of better techniques has resulted in greater understanding of apical anatomy, greater treatment success and a more favorable patient response. Using the 10 Steps for Predictability ensures the most favorable result currently possible for both the doctor, the office staff, and the patient.
