Research Assistant Professor
University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, United States
I am a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout my scientific career, I have focused on translational research in drug delivery systems for acute and chronic disorders, with a particular emphasis on thrombotic and hemorrhagic disorders, stroke, and gene therapy. I have conducted extensive studies on targeted nanomedicine approaches to restore blood-brain barrier (BBB) functions in acute ischemic stroke. By utilizing nanocarriers that encapsulate mRNA or small molecule drugs, our goal is to convert BBB endothelial cells into biotherapeutic factories or drug depots, effectively switching the pro-inflammatory environment in the stroke penumbra to an anti-inflammatory one and preventing further brain damage. I continue to investigate selective drug delivery systems to the brain using targeted nanomedicine strategies in various animal models of neurological disorders.
