AMCHP and the Association for State and Territorial Health Officials are co-sponsoring a forthcoming 2023 Maternal and Child Health Journal supplement. The supplement highlights innovative public health approaches to perinatal substance use. This workshop features three state-level programs and policies in New Mexico and Montana submitted to the journal. New Mexico will share risk factors related to substance use among pregnancy-associated deaths and present an evaluation of their state-level approach to the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act. Montana will describe findings on their implementation of SBIRT utilizing telehealth in a rural outpatient obstetric clinic. Findings and lessons learned may inform the activities of other states seeking to address perinatal substance use.
