The SSO HUB is designed to provide an inviting environment that fosters a sense of community and encourages dialogue and debate. The “HUB” is organized into disease site zones with a center stage theater and mini theaters within each zone.

The SSO HUB Theater presents SSO education that is an extension of topics covered in plenary and parallel sessions. Developed by the Scientific Program Committee, content is in the form of Case Challenges, Clinical Trials Spotlights and the Great Debates. Industry education also takes place at the HUB Theater, including Industry Spotlights and Forums. Review the full to schedule to see HUB sessions.

Friday, March 11- 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Nuts and Bolts of Watch and Wait/Nonoperative Management for Rectal Cancer
Watch and wait has gained popularity especially for patients with low rectal cancers that require abdominoperineal resection or colonal anastomosis. However, many questions remain including the optimal neoadjuvant regimen, timing of evaluation of response, and long-term surveillance schedules. The surgical oncologist needs to be familiar the different neoadjuvant regimens to treat rectal cancer when considering watch and wait, how to deal with near complete responses and have long-term surveillance strategies.
