Despite the fact that health care workers interact with people struggling with mental health and substance use challenges on a regular basis, many lack training on how to respond. Learn how Kaiser Permanente evaluated a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training initiative with patient-facing staff demonstrating statistically significant improvements that persisted with time.

Learning Objectives:

Examine findings from evaluation of MHFA trainings with patient-facing health care workers and teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) trainings that show statistically significant improvements in knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and confidence.
Describe the value of MHFA training for health care workers and tMHFA training for schools, teens and youth participants.
Identify potential hurdles in implementing MHFA trainings for health care workers and discuss strategies to mitigate them.
