Sanjana Bhakta currently serves as the manager for curricula research and evaluation at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. She oversees all of Mental Health First Aid's (MHFA) research and evaluation portfolio and leads the evaluation strategy of all MHFA programs through the development of course evaluations, evaluation processes and data analytics. Bhakta manages existing MHFA research projects, including the evaluation pilots for teen MHFA. Her work also includes establishing partnerships with academic institutions and researchers to grow the Mental Health First Aid evidence base in the United States. She works across the National Council and with stakeholders outside the organization on research and evaluation initiatives to help grow and understand the impact of MHFA in the community. In her time at the National Council, she has also spearheaded key initiatives like the MHFA Research Advisory Group and MHFA Doctoral Students Grant program.
Bhakta holds a master's degree in public health from Boston University School of Public Health and a bachelor's degree in child psychology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
