Currently, there is a lack of training opportunities for ablative surgical procedures for BPH, despite a significant demand among practicing urologists.

Enucleation procedures such as Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and Thulium laser enucleation of the prostate (ThuLEP) are gaining in popularity due to their short-term morbidity and long-term surgical success. Other ablative procedures such as water vapor thermal therapy (WVTT) and robotic waterjet treatment (WRT) have been recently introduced and are of interest to the practicing urologist as minimally invasive alternatives.

This course will introduce physicians to the indications, equipment, setup, surgical steps, and potential complications to help facilitate incorporation of these techniques into their practices.

2:10 – 2:20 p.m. Large Gland Evaluation & Contraindications - Joel Funk, MD

2:20 – 2:30 p.m. Aquablation - Naeem Bhojani,MD

2:30 – 2:40 p.m. HoLEP/THuLEP Technique - Deepak Agarwal, MD

2:40 – 2:50 p.m. Post-Test & Final Remarks - Amy Krambeck, MD

2:50 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Hands-on Instruction

Surgical Skills Stations: 4 rotations of 30 minutes each (120 minutes)

1) Aquablation
