Professor of Anatomy
Loma Linda University
Loma Linda, California
After completing a PhD in Anatomy in 1992, focusing on osteoclast biology, I did postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Dr. Brendan Boyce at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, looking at models for osteoclast apoptosis. Since 1995, I have been teaching gross anatomy, histology and embryology at Loma Linda University, splitting my time between medical and dental education. I have been engaged in collaborative research with the Department of Endodontics in the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, and have served on the thesis committees for a number of endodontics graduate students. In addition, I am the director of the Anatomy Graduate Program and the Master of Medical Science Program in the School of Medicine. Teaching activities include gross anatomy and histology for first year dental students, histology and embryology for dental hygiene students, lectures to endodontics, orthodontics and pedodontics residents, and gross anatomy and histology instruction to first year medical students. I have been an active member of the American Dental Education Association, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, the American Association for Anatomy, and the American Association of Clinical Anatomists for many years.
