2022-2023 Annual Meeting Planning Committee

The committee begins planning the AAE annual meeting 18 months in advance via two face-to-face meetings: one in the host city and another in Chicago. The committee identifies and develops a high-quality educational program along with social activities specifically designed for AAE members and guests attending the annual meeting.

  Garry L. Myers, D.D.S.
AAE23 General Chair
Dr. Garry Myers currently serves as the graduate endodontic program director at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. He completed his dental school education at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 1985. Six years later, he completed his endodontic residency program at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 1994. After serving on active duty for 13 years, Dr. Myers left the U.S. Air Force in 1998 to enter full-time private practice in Olympia, Wash., where he practiced for the next 16 years. Dr. Myers has been active in organized dentistry, having served as the president of the Washington State Association of Endodontists in 2006-07 and as the President of the AAE in 2017-18. He has spoken internationally at meetings in Japan, South Korea, San Diego and Guatemala.
 
  Keith V. Krell, D.D.S., M.S., M.A.
AAE23 Program Chair
Dr. Keith Krell has been an endodontist for 40 years. He was a full-time educator for eight years at the University of Iowa and was in private practice in West Des Moines, Iowa, for 29 years until he retired on December 31, 2017. He is still an adjunct clinical Professor in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He now works part time at Broadlawns Hospital in the Dental Department treating Medicaid patients. In 1993, he retired from the U.S. Army National Guard as a lieutenant colonel after 22 years of service. He is the immediate past president of the AAE, and past president of the American Board of Endodontics and AAE Foundation. He is a Diplomate of the ABE and a Fellow in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Dr. Krell has been married for nearly 50 years to his wife Diane and they have two grown children and five grandchildren.
 
  Kimberly A.D. Lindquist, D.D.S., M.S.D.
AAE23 Vice Program Chair
Dr. Kimberly Lindquist received her dental degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1992. She completed a general practice residency at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis in 1993. After 10 years of practicing general dentistry, she completed graduate endodontic training at Case Western Reserve University.  She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists. She has been active with the AAE since residency, including serving on several committees as well as chairing the Resident and New Practitioner committee and Corporate Relations Committee. She served as president of the Minnesota Association of Endodontists. She completed a three-year term on the AAE Board of Directors representing District 6.  Outside of endodontics, Dr. Lindquist is actively involved in her local and state dental associations and is currently finishing a three-year commitment as trustee of the Minnesota Dental Association. She is a full-time endodontic practitioner in Duluth, Minn.
 
  Antonio Berto, D.D.S.
Workshop Chair
Dr. Antonio Berto completed his dental training in Madrid, Spain, where he received a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005. In 2006, Dr. Berto became a Fellow in the Department of Endodontics Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry and continued his studies there, earning a Certificate in Endodontics, also serving as the director of endodontics at the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program and as an associate clinical professor for the Department of Endodontics. Dr. Berto has published multiple articles, lectured at local, national and international meetings, served as president of the Dallas Forth Worth Metroplex Endodontic Association and the North Texas Hispanic Dental Association, and is on the Board of Directors of the Dallas County Dental Society. A Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Dr. Berto is in full-time private practice at Ayik-Berto Dental Specialists in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan area.
 
  W. Craig Noblett, D.D.S., M.S.
Immediate Past General Chair
Dr. Craig Noblett received his dental degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry and his master's and Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Iowa. He has also served as an assistant director of the GPR Program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital/Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists. He has chaired seven committees for the AAE and is a past president of the Northern California Academy of Endodontics. Outside of endodontics, Dr. Noblett has served as a Trustee of the California Dental Association, during which time he chaired the Committee on Volunteer Placement and the Nominating Committee for CDA. Most recently, he completed six years as a director of the American Board of Endodontics — serving two years as President of the ABE. Presently, Dr. Noblett serves as the division director and graduate program director of endodontics at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.


Track Organizers

  Julianna Bair, D.M.D.
Future of Endodontic Practice Track Co-Organizer
Dr. Julianna Bair grew up in Livingston, N.J., and attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry and Spanish Literature. She received her D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. She then went on to complete a general practice residency at Columbia University/New York Presbyterian Hospital and a pediatric dental residency program at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Bair is a board-certified pediatric dentist. As a pediatric specialist, she saw a need for herself to learn more about endodontics. This led her to completing her final residency program in endodontics at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. As a dual specialist in an endodontic practice, Dr. Bair treats children and adults, delivering the highest quality care, with the extra-gentle touch of a pediatric dentist. In her free time she enjoys jogging, skiing, traveling the world, and spending time with family and friends. She is also fluent in Mandarin.
 
  Richard L. Rubin, D.D.S., M.S.
Future of Endodontic Practice Track Co-Organizer
Dr. Richard Rubin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics practicing in Fairport, N.Y. He earned his D.D.S., M.S., and Certificate in Endodontics from the University at Buffalo. Dr. Rubin is a past AAE District Director and past president of the New York State Association of Endodontists. He is past president of his American Dental Association component and recently chaired the New York State Dental Association Council on Government Affairs. He serves for the Rochester General Hospital and was a member on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for eight years and presents endodontic lectures in the GPR program. He is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Rochester in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
 
  Brian D. Barsness, D.D.S., M.S.
Interdisciplinary/Collaboration Track Co-Organizer
Dr. Brian Barsness received his D.D.S. from the University of Minnesota in 2004 and his Certificate of Residency in Endodontics and M.S. degree from the University of Minnesota in 2014. Prior to specializing in endodontics, Dr. Barsness completed a general practice residency program at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Minneapolis in 2005 and maintained a private practice in general dentistry for seven years. He joined the University of Minnesota faculty in May 2014 and maintains a private practice limited to endodontics in the Twin Cities.
 
  Alan S. Law, D.D.S., Ph.D.
Interdisciplinary/Collaboration Track Co-Organizer
Dr. Alan Law received his D.D.S. and Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, Iowa City, Iowa. He also completed his Ph.D., “Mechanisms and Modulation of Orofacial Pain”, with the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Iowa. Dr. Law has published over 40 articles in scientific and clinical journals and has co-authored chapters on “The Non-Odontogenic Toothache” and “Regenerative Endodontics” in Pathways of the Pulp, and has lectured at over 300 local, national and international meetings. Dr. Law is a member the American Dental Association and Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He is Immediate Past President of the AAE, past president of the Minnesota Association of Endodontists and Past President of the American Board of Endodontics. He is in full-time practice in the Twin Cities and president of The Dental Specialists, a multispecialty dental practice with over 35 specialists. He is also a research professor in the Division of Endodontics at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Law is married to his dental school sweetheart and orthodontist, Sandy. He has 22-year-old twins, and enjoys running, playing piano, hiking and attending his children’s athletic events.
 
  Ronald Ordinola-Zapata, Sr., D.D.S., M.S.D., Ph.D.
New Voices Track Co-Organizer
Dr. Ronald Ordinola-Zapata obtained a Master and a Doctoral degree in Endodontics at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, and his endodontic specialty training at the IB Bender Endodontic Division, Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and assistant professor at the Endodontic Division, University of Minnesota. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Ordinola-Zapata has published more than 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and lectured internationally in more than 10 countries. Dr. Ordinola-Zapata also serves as associate editor of the International Endodontic Journal (UK) and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics.
 
  Elizabeth Shin Perry, D.M.D.
New Voices Track Co-Organizer
Dr. Elizabeth Shin Perry received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and completed her postdoctoral endodontic training at the University of Connecticut. She is a Clinical Instructor and Lecturer in the Advanced Graduate Program in Endodontics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Perry is a practicing endodontist and maintains a private practice limited to endodontics in Westfield, Massachusetts. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Dr. Perry currently serves as District 1 Director of the American Association of Endodontists. She is past chair of the Professional Affairs Committee of the American Association of Endodontists and has served on the Nominating Committee and Regenerative Endodontics Committee as Board Liaison. Dr. Perry is a member of the American Dental Association’s Code Maintenance Committee as the AAE representative where she advocates for endodontics and dentistry.
 
  Bettina Basrani, D.D.S., Ph.D., M.Sc. 
Non-Surgical Root Canal Therapy Track Co-Organizer
Dr. Bettina Basrani is associate professor and director of the M.Sc. Endodontics Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. With over 30 peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, textbooks and abstracts to her credit, she has been a constant contributor to endodontic science and clinical knowledge. Dr. Basrani’s research focuses on intracanal medication and root canal irrigation, including agents and delivery methods.
 
  Lucila Piasecki, D.D.S., Ph.D., M.Sc., B.D.S.
Non-Surgical Root Canal Therapy Track Co-Organizer
Dr. Lucila Piasecki is a full-time clinical assistant professor at the Department of Periodontics and Endodontics of the State University of New York at Buffalo. She graduated in dentistry from the State University of West Parana, Cascavel, Brazil (2003) and in the same institution completed the Specialization in Endodontics (2005). She obtained the Master of Science degree (2011) and Ph.D. (2014) in endodontics at the Pontifical Catholic University PUCPR, Curitiba, Brazil. In 2015, she was awarded a research fellowship at Sapienza University of Rome. Dr. Piasecki obtained her D.D.S. from the University at Buffalo, New York, in 2022.
 
  Joseph A. Petrino, D.D.S., M.S.
Practice Management Track Organizer
Dr. Joseph Petrino grew up in Montana and graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2006. He then completed a general practice residency at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis. Following completion of the endodontic residency at University of Minnesota, he entered private practice in St. Cloud, Minn. In 2011, he moved to Missoula, Mont., where he has owned and operated Missoula Endodontics, PC. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2012.
 
  Adham A. Azim, B.D.S.
Surgical Root Canal Therapy Track Organizer
Dr. Adham Azim is an associate professor, director of the Endodontic Post-Graduate Program and chair of the Endodontic Department at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. He maintains a private practice limited to endodontics and he is also the founder and CEO of Endolit. Dr. Azim earned his BDS from Cairo University, where he also did his endodontic training. He later completed his endodontic certificate at Columbia University and, since then, has been a full-time educator and a part-time private practitioner. Before joining the University of the Pacific, he Served as division head and director of the Endodontic Post-Graduate Program at University at Buffalo. Dr. Azim is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He has lectured all over the world and has over 35 publications in peer-reviewed journals and several textbook chapters contributions such as “Ingle Endodontics” and “Endodontics: Principles and Practices”. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics, and a reviewer for multiple other endodontic journals.
