For police leaders, forging strong relationships with the community is a priority. When connections are being made at every turn, it provides opportunities to dispel myths, start conversations, change perceptions, or ask questions. Law enforcement and community leaders from across the United States have placed a strong emphasis on the importance of community policing and the impact it has on the people they serve. During the interactive panel discussion moderated by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the panelists will share their experiences on taking a step back and reassessing strategies to address equity, build collaborative partnerships, and engage in authentic conversations from a community engagement perspective. Participants will be invited to interact with the panelists by asking questions and sharing their own experiences to promote discussion and peer learning on how to sustain progress in creating healthy and safe communities.
