Jesenia Alonso, program manager at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), oversees numerous Department of Justice projects addressing gender-based violence crimes, as well as the impact of vicarious trauma on law enforcement and other professionals. She oversees the Safety and Justice Challenge Initiative, which supports law enforcement agencies working to create and sustain efforts on diversion to treatment, justice system collaboration, and authentic community-police engagement practices. Before joining IACP, Ms. Alonso served as the Director of Victim Resources at the National Center for Victims of Crime. Ms. Alonso has used her extensive knowledge to deliver national and international training to victim advocates, law enforcement, court personnel, medical providers, and faith-based organizations. Ms. Alonso has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marymount University and a master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a licensed clinical social worker, certified as a clinical trauma specialist.
