This session presents the use of digital tools in creating visualizations of cultural landscapes to reveal new understanding of the existing and historic conditions and inform future management. Visualization of two sites include Statue of Liberty National Monument in New York City, and Flight 93 National Memorial in Stoystown, Pennsylvania.

Learning Outcomes:

Understand the use of digital visualizations in cultural landscape preservation for documenting cultural landscape history, and to inform their future management and ensure important characteristics are preserved and enhanced.
Recognize the ways that digital tools can serve a unique role to facilitate collaboration between historic preservation planners, cultural landscape site managers, communities, and the general public.
Articulate the unique challenges of cultural landscape visualization, and generally describe the digital tools and workflows that have been developed to address these challenges.
Understand how digital tools can open up new avenues of narration, storytelling, and interpretation of historic and cultural landscapes for diverse and under-represented audiences.
