Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is an umbrella term for a variety of syndromes including: functional movement disorders (FMD), psychogenic non-epileptic seizures, and functional cognitive disorders. Functional movement disorders are characterized by abnormal movements of different body parts caused by a problem with the way signals are sent throughout the brain. Over the past 3 years, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab has offered an interdisciplinary evaluation clinic as well as an intensive, outpatient-based FMD treatment program for individuals diagnosed with FMD by a neurologist. This presentation will review the feasibility and effectiveness of the program including initial outcome measures both pre- and post-intervention as well as patient and clinician reflections on the program

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to define Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and identify at least three common presentations/symptoms.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to Identify characteristics of client readiness for referral to an intensive therapy program.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to implement evidence based interventions for motor relearning, symptom management, and improved activity participation.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to choose appropriate outcome measures to track patient progress and improvement.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to write appropriate and measurable goals that match the intensity and short duration of the program.
