1174772 - The Integrated Toolbox Needed to Respond to PFAS Investigation Requests

Increasingly, regulated industry as well as public entities are receiving requests from state and federal regulators to sample and analyze their facilities contributions to PFAS in the environment, frequently under the auspices of gathering data for the purpose of furthering scientific knowledge and the buildout of regulatory structures. Doing so is often not straightforward, since for facilities that may have contributed to PFAS releases, the documentation of their releases could lead to legal liability. Further, once contamination is discovered, remediation and treatment can be complicated, as the PFAS treatment industry remains in an initial growth phase. For this panel discussion, speakers representing the legal, environmental consulting, and PFAS remediation technology industries will talk through case studies of how to best respond to requests for PFAS testing, in order to balance the information needs of the public with the facility’s legal liability and future ability to remediate and treat PFAS if it is discovered.
