1189517 - EPA Priorities for 2022-2023

This long-standing panel of the ACE Technical Program will examine U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) priorities over the coming year. This year’s panel will be on the heels the EPA’s new FY 2022-2026 EPA Strategic Plan, finalized recently on March 28, 2022. The EPA releases Strategic Plans every four or more years to communicate EPA’s vision, priorities, and strategies to accomplish the agency’s mission over the period of the Strategic Plan.

The new Strategic Plan furthers the EPA's commitment to protecting human health and the environment for all people, with an emphasis on historically overburdened and underserved communities, advancing environmental justice and civil rights goals. For the first time, EPA’s Strategic Plan also includes a strategic goal focused exclusively on addressing climate change. It also presents goals and strategies on enforcing environmental laws and compliance, and ensuring heathy air, safe water, and safety from chemicals in the environment.

Expected panelists include a high-level EPA policymaker who will present EPA’s priority topics that are sure to include topics described above from the new Strategic Plan. Other panelists will then present their views and comment on the EPA presentation, including a high-level official from the California Air Resources Board, industry group representative(s), and a representative from a leading nonprofit environmental advocacy group.
