Swetha Kodali is an MD-PhD student at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She recently joined the laboratory of Dr. David Alland at the Public Health Research Institute. Currently, her graduate work includes developing novel molecular diagnostics and drug screens to improve detection and treatment of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.
Swetha graduated with a BA in Biology from Columbia University, where she investigated the role of microbial components and aberrant immune system activation in patients with hereditary, immune-mediated renal disease. After starting at New Jersey Medical School, she joined efforts led by Dr. Shobha Swaminathan to evaluate and improve HIV screening and linkage to care at University Hospital. She aims to pursue a career in academic medicine, with a focus on infectious diseases.
