Brian O. Mealy serves as Councilman for Southold Town in New York, on the eastern end of Long Island. Mr. Mealy is humbled and grateful to serve the Southold community as the first African American elected to town-wide office. Having been elected in 2022, Brian has a wealth of civic and public service experience. Prior to joining the town board, Mr. Mealy was twice elected to the Mattituck Cutchogue Union Free School Board and currently serves as an elected member of the ESBOCES Board, a cooperative multi school district network that works to lower educational costs statewide. Brian is also a former member of the Suffolk County Sheriff Department Citizen’s Advisory Board, and the Southold Justice Review and Reform Task Force, and current member of the Southold Rotary Club. A lifelong resident of Southold Town, Brian was also honored with the 2018 Helen Wright Prince award for his exceptional service to his beloved community. A proud staff member at Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport, Brian was featured on CBS 2 News "The Dig" for his library work and dedication to community service. Brian is committed to working to uplift his community through informed and dedicated public service.
