Unlike previous generations of planners, today’s planners are expected to perform more as political actors than as technicians The push and pull of political processes can put a planner in a position that could compromise their job, ethics. and career. A planner’s personal beliefs also introduce unconscious bias into the planning process. So how do planners remain neutral day in and day out? Being unaware of a situation and what's unspoken can be dangerous pitfalls, while doing the wrong thing is just as dangerous to the integrity of both the planner and our profession.

Using the lens of the AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, panelists share experiences about challenging situations and their approaches to navigating them.
