Hyperglycemia during pregnancy is associated with numerous deleterious maternal and fetal outcomes. Recent studies have shown that pregnancy outcomes, such as large for gestational age, can be reduced with improved glycemic control. As such, 2022 guidelines from the American Diabetes Association agree that continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can help to achieve glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) targets in pregnant people with diabetes and recommend CGM use in conjunction with finger sticks to achieve optimal pre- and postprandial glycemic targets. With this live 60-minute symposium, increase your confidence in using CGM to improve the management of hyperglycemia in your patients with diabetes who are pregnant. Experts in obstetrics & gynecology will discuss 2 patient cases demonstrating the role of CGM in patients who are pregnant, including target glucose ranges, how to initiate CGM, and how to interpret CGM data. The symposium will be simultaneously streamed live for online Medscape member attendees, who will have an opportunity to participate in a 2-way conversation with faculty and ask questions related to the content discussed during the live event.
