We will explore challenges in visibility for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) obstetrical patients around the country, why we may be seeing some significant health disparities for some LGBTQ+ patients but not others, and explore how the lived realities LGBTQ+ patients (from birth and beyond) may be obscured in current data collection and healthcare systems. We will invite participant discussion around birth equity and obstetrical care recommendations while educating the audience about larger pregnancy-related health and birth equity conversations. We will encourage disaggregating gender, sexual orientation, sex assigned at birth, and parenting roles while considering whole person experiences and differences by race and ethnicity and body anatomy with the goal of advancing comprehensive birth equity and reproductive justice.
