Laure Louis-Charles, RN, DNP candidate PMHNP class of 2024, Program Manager of the Institute of Living's Residential Program: Todd House and Eli's Retreat. Ms. Louis-Charles began my career in New York as a registered nurse in 5/2007 working in Med-Surg/Telemetry and Progressive Care nursing. After 6 years she moved to Connecticut with her family and began working in behavioral health at the Institute of Living. The Todd House and Eli's Retreat residential program provides intensive residential mental health treatment to individuals 18yrs or older who have serious and persistent psychiatric disorders, or co-occurring serious and persistent psychiatric disorders and substance use disorder and are medically indigent. Such service is highly structured and rehabilitative, with 24-hour staff supervision, and a length of stay of six to twenty-four months. Ms. Louis-Charles is particularly interested in nutritional health and wellness amongst this population. She also attends Rush University School of Nursing where she is completing a doctorate degree as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She is also passionate about legislative policy and pediatric mental health.
