Integration Dental Consultant
Independent Contractor
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Mana Mozaffarian, DMD, is the former Chief Dental Officer of Pennsylvania and is currently an integration dental consultant. Most of her career has been dedicated to public health and person-centered care. Her training and experience, as well as her interest, has been in medical/dental/behavioral health and social health integration. Her focus is not just on the individual’s physical needs, but in understanding their physical needs in the context of their social determinants of health. Her work is founded on using evidence-based literature, encouraging prevention and minimally invasive procedure, monitoring quality measures and use of technology to its maximum opportunities while upholding standards of care. She insists that a comprehensive approach is to include awareness of unconscious and implicit biases and implementing trauma-informed care.
Dr Mozaffarian has obtained her doctorate degree in Dentistry from University of Pennsylvania in 2006 and has completed a General Practice Residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital. She contributes much of her data driven focus, to her undergraduate degree in Mathematics with concentration in Operational Research. Her clinical experience has been in a variety of settings such as hospitals, correctional facilities, Federally Qualified Health Centers and private practice. She has also held professorship and directorship roles in academia, as well as in Managed Care Organizations.
Dr Mozaffarian has been the recipient of “Community Dentistry and Dental Public Health Award” and “University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine’s Alumni Award of Merit” and has presented on different dental public health subjects and has consulted, as well as served on panels of speakers, on a range of oral health topics, including equity and inclusion.
