Jennifer Shumaker is a Master’s level Clinical Social Worker, is fully licensed with the state of Michigan (LMSW) and is currently the Senior Director of Program Operations at CNS Healthcare as well as the Project Director of CNS’ CCBHC Expansion Grant. In this capacity she has been influential in establishing and implementing a fully operational CCBHC model of care for mental health and co-occurring substance use disorder services, as well as in ensuring that primary care and behavioral healthcare integration remains a priority of the organization. She is a dynamic Social Work professional with experience working with children, adults, and families in Community Mental Health, including 7 years in leadership/administration, program development and implementation, clinical supervision and grant management including five federal grants. Jennifer received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Eastern Michigan University in 2012 and attended Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, to obtain her Master of Social Work degree in 2013. Jennifer is certified through the University of Michigan in Integrated Behavioral Health and Primary Care , is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma informed treatments, a graduate of Middle Management Academy through the National Council for Mental Wellness and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Jennifer was a presenter at the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan Fall Conference in 2019 with the presentation titled, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics: Our Journey to Integrated Healthcare. In 2020 Jennifer presented Improving Access to Care through Medicaid 1115 Waivers for the virtual webinar co-hosted by the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors & the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Jennifer has been a Mentor for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic - Expansion Grantees with the National Council for Mental Wellness and at NatCon 22 Jennifer had the opportunity to be a panelist and presenter for the National Council for Mental Wellness Pre-Conference CCBHC University, presenting If I Knew Then What I Know Now. Also in 2022, Jennifer presented at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Annual Michigan State Conference with CCBHCs: Our Journey to Integrated Healthcare. Jennifer has also been selected to participate in the Young Leaders Program with the National Council for Mental Wellness in 2019, 2022, and has been accepted for the upcoming 2023 cohort.
