Mary Silberstein, LCSW-R, is the senior director of strategic alliances and special projects and is the former director of integrated counseling and recovery services at CN Guidance and Counseling Services. Silberstein is a community and health system leader with more than 32 years of experience in the behavioral health care field. She has dedicated her career to improving the lives of individuals with mental health and substance use disorders both in New York and nationwide. Silberstein has been a member of the CN Guidance health system since 2013. In her role as director of integrated counseling and recovery services, Silberstein has worked with multiple community partners and with federal, state and local funding agencies to develop a fully functioning outpatient clinic where thousands of clients participate annually in an integrated primary medical care, mental health and substance use disorder treatment. Silberstein was a key player and an integral part of the federal and New York State decision to award CN Guidance with Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) status and led the seamless transition into providing services in this unprecedented role. Prior to her work at CN Guidance, Mary shared her passion for recovery as the division director for addiction and recovery at the Pederson-Krag Center, Inc., a human services agency providing extensive mental health, rehabilitation, substance use, residential, employment, training, education and care coordination services. She has also led strategic and program development initiatives with Queens Hospital relating to HIV/AIDS and substance use disorders. Silberstein has extensive experience with evidence-based practices and with providing leadership and oversight to SAMHSA and other federal and state grant programs. She earned her master’s degree in social work degree from Adelphi University and her bachelor’s degree in sociology from California State University at Long Beach.
