Diversion and access to services have become an increasing issue across the nation. Too often, individuals are taken into jails and emergency departments (EDs) where they are often not referred to appropriate levels of behavioral health care. Interventions provided through co-responder programming have been shown to not only lessen situations of crisis but also divert people away from ED and inpatient treatment. We will share an insider’s view of our three year effort to coordinate municipal and county systems, embed clinical resources in police and fire, and discuss the expansion of cross-county programming.
