TP29 - An Interdisciplinary Response to Sexual Trauma and Substance Use Disorders

Sexual violence and substance use are public health concerns are often addressed separately; however, intersections exist that suggest alternative, integrative approaches might be beneficial for the overall recovery process. In Tucson, the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault (SACASA) has partnered with the integrated substance use disorder treatment clinic at CODAC Health Recovery & Wellness to overcome stigma, increase access and engagement in supportive treatment services and promote the overall wellbeing of sexual assault survivors. Through collaboration, barriers to healing will be addressed and connections to appropriate trauma informed treatment are facilitated. We will explore the development, implementation and outcomes of the collaboration.
