Director of Accountable Care Systems Integral Care Georgetown, Texas
Integral Care conducted a six-year mortality analysis for the 552 known deaths of their clients to better understand the intersection of mortality and health disparities among its population of people living with serious mental illness. This analysis offered a robust look at mortality trends, racial/health disparities, top diagnoses and comorbidities, pandemic impacts and more. It took an in-depth look at racial disparities and found that when controlling for population size, Black and African American clients had the highest rates of overdose deaths, while suicides were the leading cause of death among Hispanic and Latino clients.
Learning Objectives:
Identify cause of death trends in a population of individuals with serious mental illness.
Evaluate population-level health disparities using data.
Deploy data to create actionable information about client populations.
