Due to systemic racism and oppression, and exacerbated by our nation’s historically siloed health system, marginalized communities of color and immigrant communities continue to face disproportionate challenges in accessing health care. But as our nation moves towards more integrated and value-based health systems, health providers strive to advance health equity to ensure all clients experience person-centered care to meet individual’s unique needs. To do this, organizations must improve culturally and linguistically responsive practices and work to actively reduce unwarranted biases, racism, and trauma. Join our session to hear from organizations paving the way towards integrated and equitable systems of care.

Learning Objectives:

Understand current disparities that historically marginalized communities, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color, LGBTQ+ communities, immigrant communities, and rural communities, face when accessing mental health and substance use treatment services.
Understand why equitable approaches are critical to integrated health care systems.
Understand the challenges and opportunities with prioritizing mental health and substance use treatment services for culturally and linguistically marginalized communities.
Describe different models of integrated health care that demonstrate improved outcomes for marginalized communities.
Understand how your organization can improve its clinical and operational systems to improve integrated and equitable care.
