Retention and recruitment challenges require creative solutions, especially in non-profit work and in rural settings. We developed a master’s-level intern program in 2011 to bolster our capacity and over the past 10+ years, we have found high rates of retention of interns, who convert to full- or part-time staff upon graduation. We will discuss ways to support student interns and invest in their professional development. You reap what you sow – the more you invest in your student interns, the greater the reward in building a well-trained team of clinicians to effectively serve your community!
Learning Objectives:
Describe three ways to support and develop student interns at your agency.
