Allied Health providers (APPs) are a fundamental part of the Colorectal Surgery team, working with surgeons closely to provide optimal patient outcomes. This symposium will address a range of topics from professional development to current surgical care practices. Practice updates in the management of Rectal Cancer, IBD, and Anal Dysplasia will be discussed. Complex cases will also be discussed by a panel led by both physicians and APP, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork that is fundamental in patient care.

Describe the workup and management of patients who are referred for common and complex rectal symptoms including hemorrhoids, fissures, fistula, proctitis, and anal dysplasia.
Recognize and address socioeconomic barriers to care in patients with ostomies after discharge.
Diagnose a patient with IBD and describe the treatment algorithm Explain current practice trends, specifically for patients who seek organ preservation for rectal cancer.
