Shannon Novosad, MD, MPH is an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She received her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed internal medicine residency training at Duke University and subspecialty training in pulmonary/critical care medicine at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) where she also received a Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology/biostatistics. At OHSU, Dr. Novosad conducted research focusing on the epidemiology and natural history of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) pulmonary disease. While at CDC, she has been involved in outbreak investigations in healthcare facilities as well as projects focusing on the treatment of Clostridium difficile infection and epidemiology of sepsis.
