Deborah Burdsall has worked in long-term care in a variety of positions, including nurse’s aide, staff nurse, nursing supervisor, MDS/care plan coordinator, clinical inservice coordinator, and director of healthcare services. She has been an infection preventionist in long-term care for over 25 years. She is board certified in infection prevention and control and ANCC certified in gerontological nursing. She is an APIC Fellow. Deborah works to find evidence-based, cost-effective infection prevention strategies for long-term care. She earned her doctorate degree from the University of Iowa College of Nursing with a cognate in public health/epidemiology. Her doctoral dissertation project involved testing the reliability of a glove use surveillance tool that measured how healthcare personnel used gloves during sequences of patient care.
