Dr. Parada is a Professor of Medicine and Public Health, the Hospital Epidemiologist/Regional Medical Director of the Loyola Medicine Infection Control Program and former Director of the Antibiotic Stewardship Program. He is also Research Associate of the Infectious Diseases and Immunology Research Institute (InDIRI) at Loyola University.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Infectious Diseases Society of America (FIDSA), and Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (FSHEA), and a former VA Research Career Development Awardee.
He is an active clinician and teacher. His research is clinical effectiveness, outcomes and resource utilization in infectious diseases – with a focus on the prevention of healthcare associated infections – including C.diff, MRSA, CLABSI & CAUTIs. His projects have also included studies of antimicrobial use/resistance/adverse events. He has over 60 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals, and over 300 presentations at national & international scientific meetings and Grand Rounds.
