Sara Podczervinski, RN, MPH, CIC, FAPIC has worked in infection prevention since 2005, specializing in outpatient oncology. She has her Bachelors in Science and Nursing from Western Michigan University and Master’s in Public Health in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. She is a doctoral candidate at University of Washington’s Doctorate in Nursing Practice for population health. Sara has worked as a public health communicable disease epidemiologist and has clinical experience as a charge and admissions nurse for long-term care. She was awarded the Infection Prevention Hero Award at APIC in 2014 for her work on respiratory virus prevention. She has been Certified in Infection Control (CIC) since 2006, is Chair of APIC’ s Member Services Committee, and has held several board positions at Puget Sound APIC. Since 2015, she has managed the Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance Section at the Washington State Department of Health.
