Julie M. Richards has been in infection prevention and control since 2013. She has been an RN for over 26 years. She holds CIC certification and Fellowship in APIC. She is published in the Practice Guidance for Health Care Environmental Cleaning by The Association for Health Care Environment. She is currently an Infection Prevention Specialist Contractor with the Department of Defense.
She has served as an infection preventionist in acute care, ambulatory care, occupational health, behavioral health, home health, sterile processing, public health, dental settings, leadership reporting, and as a private consultant. She has served on the Greater Kansas City APIC board for 7 years, including president in 2020. She also serves on the National APIC Public Policy Committee. She was awarded the National APIC Chapter Leaders Award in 2019. She is known for delivering innovative and strategic changes in major healthcare organizations.
