The Oregon Health Authority, Indiana Department of Health, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health believe that youth-adult partnerships in public health will create the most equitable COVID-19 recovery, mental health, access to care, minority health, and sexual health outcomes. To accomplish this, state-wide Youth Advisory Boards and Councils have either been established or are in the works of being established. We recognize the institutional challenges and barriers to engaging youth voices at the state level. Many state health departments design and implement programs that impact youth, or work with vendors that engage youth, but do not engage youth in the design process. Attendees of this workshop will assess where their organizations are at in terms of readiness for youth engagement/leadership and explore opportunities for youth engagement in their community/work/school.
