Jovanny has transformed the trauma he has been through and used it as fuel for his life and artwork. His name BUEK used to mean Bloods United Exterminating Krabs. After years of gang-banging he was able to turn his life around and find new meaning in his graffiti artwork. BUEK now stands for Build Unity Empower Knowledge. Staying true to his roots while growing like a tree, Jovanny has been able to overcome some of life’s hardest challenges and continue to rise and support his family. He is a young Father to his daughter Yaretzi, his most important job. He is also an experienced manufacturing supervisor and a passionate community organizer. Jovanny has experience leading community art and mural projects and empowering the youth to tap into artwork as a form of healing, self-expression, and social change.
