Ramya Dronamraju joined the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials in November 2016. Ramya completed her Master’s in Public Health with a concentration on maternal and child health at the George Washington University’s Milken School of Public Health and received her BA in Chemistry from Kalamazoo College.
In her current role as Director of Maternal and Infant Health, Ramya’s portfolio includes projects related to maternal and infant health behavioral health, maternal morbidity and mortality, and addressing health disparities in MCH populations. Ramya serves as a content expert in maternal and child health and manages federally funded projects, associated budgets, work plans, and contracts for sub-recipient states and consultants.
Ramya leads two multi-state learning communities: the Promoting Innovation in State & Territorial MCH Policymaking (PRISM) project, which is focused on perinatal substance use and policymaking, and the Risk Appropriate Care project, which is focused on perinatal regionalization. She leads technical assistance and capacity-building activities for state health officials, their staff, and multi-sectoral partners. Additionally, Ramya leads collaborative efforts with national organizations to align ASTHO priorities and project activities with national MCH objectives. She has presented on various ASTHO projects at conferences and participates in national partner workgroups. Before her role as Director, Ramya served as an analyst and senior analyst on the maternal and child health team and as an analyst and intern on the chronic disease team.
Outside of work, Ramya is the founder and CEO of Love Intuition, a mobile app that provides access to mental health resources for adolescent women and non-binary people to reduce the incidence of intimate partner violence. Ramya’s work was featured on Victoria’s Secret PINK’s Youtube Channel, Brown Girl Magazine, and The Skimm. Ramya was also an inaugural fellow of the Vital Voices x TRESemme Leadership incubator.
